Your phone can be turned into a mouse
Remote Mouse is a nifty Android app that transforms your phone into a wireless computer mouse (and keyboard).
Remote Mouse functions on Bluetooth technology and can serve as both a keyboard and mouse (most competitors do not include a keyboard). This can be a lifesaver if your mouse and keyboard die, and you need a stopgap measure. It's advertised as an alternative for mouse and keyboard. It's very convenient if you want to use your computer from far away.
However, you should not be tricked into thinking that this is a good, free alternative for a normal Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. Typing on an Android is already difficult enough, and there are some issues involving lag with this application. It can be deceptively tricky to use a screen as a mouse, especially if you're using applications that require a high level of precision, like word processors.
Overall, this app is great if you have reasonable expectations. This is not meant to be a long-term tool, unless you're only using it for very basic functions, like starting and stopping a video player. Now that more physical equipment has entered the market at affordable prices, you should consider not using this app as substitute for a proper keyboard and mouse. Nevertheless, it's much faster than using something like VNC for remote desktop control, since it has just the functionality minimally required.
- Much faster than most remote desktop apps
- Also contains a keyboard
- Costs much less (free!) than physical equipment
- Performance doesn't compare to physical devices
- Sometimes there are issues with software lag
